A Visit to Share Advancements of Bio Medical Engineering

An informative lecture on ‘Introduction to Neural Engineering’ was delivered by Dr. Noeline Prins at the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 26th May 2016 for undergraduates, postgraduates, instructors and lecturers of the department.

Dr. Noeline Prins earned her bachelors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. She earned her doctorate from University of Miami, USA. At present, she is a postdoctoral researcher at University of Geneva, Switzerland, working on connectivity for understanding Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson’s Disease, OCD and Tourette’s Syndrome.

The Arrival of students from University of Miyazaki

Evolvement of technology and determination of the generation was apprehended with arrival of five students from Miyazaki University, Prof. Hiroki Tamura, Department of Environmental Robotics, Faculty of Engineering, University of Miyazaki, Japan and Mr. Goshiro Ushiroda, Chief at the Center for International Relations, University of Miyazaki, Japan. The day started with a panel discussion on student exchange program with Vice Chancellor Prof. R. A. Attalage and senior lecturers of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and followed by a presentation on life at University of Miyazaki by Miyazaki undergraduates.


The “i-belt” from University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka wins an International Design Competition.

A group consisting of 3 final year mechanical engineering undergraduates from University of Moratuwa has been able to win the 1st place in “IMechE Asia Pacific Design Competition for People with Hearing Disorder” for their product the “i-belt” in the final heats which was held at Auckland, New Zealand on 30th of April 2016.

DOME Opens MEMS/NEMS & Mechatronics Laboratory

At an opening ceremony held Friday (8th January), the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Moratuwa, inaugurated its new purpose built MEMS/NEMS & Mechatronics Laboratory.

The Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering of the University of Moratuwa are pleased to announce the commencement of the Postgraduate programme in “Building Services Engineering” for the academic year 2015/2016 and invite applications for admission from suitably qualified candidates. The course is commencing from April 2016 and will be offered in modular form.
