Department is to offer new course modules on emerging technologies

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is going to offer the following new course modules to cover emerging technologies. Under these new modules, students will have the benefit of learning “Micro/Nano Electro Mechanical Systems and Nanotechnology” and “Aircraft Technology”. This will be a huge advantage for the industry, students as well as the entire university community to experience modern trends in Mechanical Engineering.

The Resumption of the DOME Research Seminar

The resumption of the DOME research seminar was taken place at Mechanical Engineering Seminar room on 6th November 2012. Mr. Pubudu Welgama, Research assistant and a postgraduate student of DOME came up with an interesting presentation on “Development and Clinical Testing of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Device”. Mr Welgama shared his experience on developing a fully automatically controlled, low power consumed NPWT device. The device was clinically tested to evaluate its performances and it has proven to heals which cannot be treated by conventional healing methods.


5th Japan-SAARC Energy Symposium [JSES] March 2012

The “5th Japan-SAARC Energy Symposium” will be held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka on 1st and 2nd March 2012. Seventeen foreign experts from SAARC member countries and Japan are invited to make presentations at this two-day event funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Government of Japan. They are also invited to participate in the subsequent two-day site visit on 3rd and 4th March 2012 to Hambantota funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This event is organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in partnership with the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA).
