First research seminar of the year 2013 was held at Mechanical Engineering Seminar Room on 9th of January 2013. Mr. Amal Senevirathne, Lecturer of DOME came up with an interesting presentation on “Effect of Cryogenic Cooling on Machining Performance on Hard to Cut Metals”. Mr. Senevirathne shared his experience on capability to use Cryogenic cooling, Liquid Nitrogen Cooling(LNC), and ‘Chilled Air and Minimum Quantity Lubrication’ (CAMQL) cooling techniques for machining operations, in present Sri Lankan context. The efforts of Mr. Senevirathne and his team were highly appreciated by the gathering.
